A weekend of fun with sporting legends

Festival of Sport is a unique chance for children and adults to try the sports they love – where families learn from real sporting legends and experience a wide range of physical activities together. Festival of Sport brings unforgettable moments to life from the heart of the UK, uniting people of all ages and abilities through the joy of sport.

Pitch up and Play

Led by legends

When you want to learn from the best, who better to guide you than some of the UK’s greatest sporting heroes? Alongside our brilliant coaching teams we are joined over the weekend by Olympians, World Cup winners and legends of sport as guest coaches who are ready to help you build skills and confidence and inspire the next generation.

You can tackle your hockey skills with Olympic gold medal winners Kate and Helen Richardson-Walsh, make a splash in rowing with Olympian Alan Campbell, improve your rugby prowess with Ben Youngs and Alex Goode or shoot arrows with Paralympian archer Jodie Grinham…she might even let you hold her medals too!

“Amazing weekend”

Jack aged 9

What to know before you go…

All registered children will be put into groups according to their age so they can follow the pre-planned timetable of activities for their group. Each child is given a coloured t-shirt on arrival, according to which group they are in. There will also be a short briefing session each morning to make any necessary adjustments to these groups. They may have a choice of sports for some sessions and can sit out of any session they don’t want to do. There is plenty of time to rest in between sessions.

Children are encouraged to take part in as much of their sporting schedule as they want. There is no obligation to do everything, and they can sit anything out or also look at similar age groups to see if they can join their session if they prefer.

We advise bringing the basic sporting clothing and trainers. You don’t need to bring any specific sporting equipment as everything is provided in each coaching zone. However, if you have your own equipment then you are welcome to bring it if you would like to. Our partner Kitround will be onsite with their pre-owned kit library to help with any additional items needed or forgotten.

We have a complete adult activity programme over the weekend, that runs concurrently alongside the children’s programme with staggered timings to help you with any childcare/sessions you may also want to watch. The adult programme covers everything from yoga to HIIT sessions, wellness talks and also coaching in some selected sports across the weekend.

Alongside our sporting programmes we also have a number of other activities available throughout the weekend. We have a festival village with a fabulous range of food and drink vendors and a selection of hand-picked retail opportunities, the wellness zone with saunas, plunge pools and sports massage and a children’s quiet zone if you need some time out to relax, with giant games, face painting and hair braiding.

And that’s not all…we also have entertainment each evening in our main arena with music from our houseband – The RPJ Band, Saturday night party, silent disco and the Sunday cinema night to help everyone chill and relax after a busy weekend!

We operate a one ticket per group policy, which will be sent around one month before the event. You will need to bring your ticket with you either printed or on your phone/tablet as we need to scan the QR code for you to gain entry.

Our festival village has a wide range of food vendors to suit all tastes throughout the weekend. There is lots of choice available from breakfast to drinks in the evening and dietary requirements can also be accommodated. For any special dietary requirements we do ask that you make us aware of this before you arrive.

Thank you to our 2026 event partners
